A new David Benoit album has now hit record bars. Entitled "Earthglow", this is Benoit's first album of all-original material in four years.

For over three decades, one name has been associated with jazz music and he is David Benoit. Ever since he began his music career back in 1977, the contemporary pianist and eminent jazz performer has released several memorable songs, including groundbreaking classics such as Freedom at Midnight, This Side Up and Every Step of the Way.

Freedom at Midnight, released in 1987, clinched the fifth best slot at the Billboard Top Contemporary Jazz albums chart. This album has also been known to be David's favorite to make as he quipped "everything came together."

Take A Look Inside My Heart

Benoit released the album Artist's Choice in 1998, an album which featured one of jazz's most notable songs named Take A Look Inside My Heart. The many time Grammy nominee has released several albums since and has conducted, arranged and performed for musicians like Brian McKnight, Kenny Rankin, Russ Freeman and the Rippingtons, Patti Austin, Kenny Loggins, Dave Koz, David Lanz, Cece Winans, David Sanborn and David Pack.

Sometimes a little break from all the chaos can bring positive dividends. In 2008, Benoit left Los Angeles in favor of the solitude slopes close to Saratoga. The silence generated inspiration for Benoit, and this triggered the production of songs which formed what became his latest David Benoit CD. Called Earthglow, it's his first full studio record in four years.

David Benoit CD Has Eleven Songs

The album is filled with a handful of warm, sonic goodies. Botswana Bossa Nova has the chill and cool flavor of the said genre, while Will's Chill is your midday lounge type of sound. The next track called Unbelievable is self-explanatory in mood with its cheerful disposition tone while Easy Day has the weekend afternoon ambiance worth listening. Straightaway is simply a relaxing ditty and New Creation has a faster beat but remains earnest like the rest.

Title track Earthglow is one of the top picks of the album with its palette of sounds coming together in wonderful harmony. Sneaky As A Cat has a sleuth kind of feel and emits images of the Pink Panther. Downtime needs little explanation as its laid back tone captures the audio landscape, and Brownie's Gone also captures the easy listening vibe. Freedom At Midnight (The Schroeder Variations) ends the album on a positive note.

David Benoit still has the magic with Earthglow, and listening to his latest work is definitely all worth it.
